- To use this Special Skill, Troopers must be in Marker form (for example, Camouflaged, Impersonation, Decoy, Holoecho…) or in Hidden Deployment at the start of the Order in which they are activated.
- The user must declare a CC Attack, BS Attack, or Comms Attack.
- The user of this Special Skill must be in their Active Turn.

- To use this Special Skill, Troopers must be in Marker form (Camouflaged, for example) at the start of the Order in which they are activated. (See FAQs & Errata. Or start the Order in Hidden Deployment State.)
- The user must declare a CC Attack, BS Attack, Hacking Program or other Comms Attack.
- The user of this Special Skill must be in their Active Turn.
- This Attack imposes an additional negative MOD, as shown in round brackets in the Unit Profile [Surprise Attack (-3), Surprise Attack (-6)...]. This MOD only applies to targets of the Attack, and applies to any Skill Roll that those targets perform in ARO.
- This Skill cannot be used again until the Trooper returns to Marker form.
FAQs & Errata
[Errata] Can Surprise Attack be used with Hidden Deployment State?
Yes. Surprise Attack can be used if the Trooper started the Order in a Marker State, or in Hidden Deployment State.

Q: Can a Hacker in IMP-2 State (via Cybermask) use the Surprise Attack Special Skill if they don't have Surprise Attack listed on their Unit Profile?
A: No. If the Trooper doesn't have the Surprise Attack Special Skill, the Trooper cannot use it.

Q: If multiple Troopers use Surprise Attack against the same target, for example via a Coordinated Order, or a Controller and Peripheral, do the Surprise Attack MODs stack with each other?
A: No. Each Trooper's Surprise Attack MOD will be applied separately. For example if a Trooper is the target of two attackers using Surprise Attack, they will only suffer one Surprise Attack MOD if they Dodge, or Attack one of the Active Troopers.
